So who got an invite to the royal wedding?

Anyone? Well, its good to know I’m not the only one.

According to reports, 1,900 invitations were sent out. And seeing as how this isn’t your run-of-the-mill wedding, and that these invitations kind of carry the same mystique as, say, a golden ticket in a Willy Wonka bar, I doubt that fewer than 1,900 people will be attending. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that at least double that number will actually attend. (I wonder if there are venues in the U.S. that can accomodate a wedding of that size, outside of an NBA arena?)

Here’s a look at the invitation close up:

The wording of the invite is interesting and obviously very different from what American commoners might normally send out. You know, since most of us don’t have chamberlains, much less a “Lord Chamberlain.” Prince William’s full name and title turns out to be “His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales, K.G.” while Kate Middleton is simply “Miss Catherine Middleton.”

And, check out the dress code. Uniform, morning coat or lounge suit. Uniform, I get — I secretly love weddings in which grooms wear their military dress uniforms….swoon! But what is a morning coat or a lounge suit? A Yahoo! Shine slideshow has a pretty informative take on the dress code guide.
