Prince William is getting MARRIED to Kate Middleton this month!!!!

Oh, if my mom were here, she would definitely be watching for every piece of royal wedding news available. And there’s a lot out there. I realize I should’ve blogged the news when they got engaged, but you know what? Life happens. So, without further adieu, welcome to Wedding Decorator’s Royal Wedding Month.
First, let’s address the engagement. (I know, I’m late.) Prince William’s engagement announcement to Kate Middleton was probably the most highly anticipated wedding news in the world EVER. Is that an exaggeration? No, I don’t think so. I mean, you throw into the mix the fact that his mother was Princess Diana, whose wedding and later death rocked the world — there you have a child of the worldwide spotlight.
And I was not alone in absolutely coveting that dress. Knockoffs of that dress were instantly for sale and flew off shelves in the UK and online. I mean, the color was gorgeous and strong, the style was flattering, and it matched her ring perfectly.
And speaking of the ring?

The ring belonged to William’s mother, the aforementioned Princess Diana. Bad luck, some people ventured? No, I don’t think so. William and Kate have been dating a long time, and he’s bucking a lot of tradition and rules to marry her, a commoner. At any rate, the ring’s stats: 18-carat blue oval sapphire, surrounded by 14 diamonds, set in white gold. In 1981, when Lady Diana received the ring, it cost £22,000 or $45,000. Who knows what it could be worth now?
My favorite article about the engagement news came from abcnews.com. Prince William’s desire to bring his mother and his wife-to-be is just “AWWWWW” inducing:
“Well as you may recognize now, it’s my mother’s engagement ring and it’s very special to me, as Kate is very special to me now as well. It was only right the two were put together,” William said. “It was my way of making sure mother didn’t miss out on today and the excitement and the fact that we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.”
