So everyone is trying to save money, right? One way to save money is to go without flowers and just set up a candle arrangement. But if you’re not careful, you could spend just as much on a candle arrangement as you would on flowers. So I suggest you visit your local Big Lots.

Is Big Lots a store you wouldn’t be caught dead in? Too bad…whenever it comes time to do Christmas decorating at my church, Big Lots is my first stop. Turns out, its a good spot to find candles and candle accessories too, for cheap.

Now, the Big Lots in North Hollywood I shopped at recently had a candle selection unlike anything I’ve ever seen before at a Big Lots. And I go to Big Lots just about every December. Besides a huge selection of tea lights and pillar candles, they had all sorts of jar candles and scented candles.

This location also had a huge selection of decorative candle holders. Basically you just place candles in these holders, light them up, and watch the pretty colors and shapes dance on the walls.

What are the prices like? I hate to say it, but I don’t remember. Sorry! But this is Big Lots, once known as Pic N’ Save. Let me put it this way — I can fill a cart with Christmas decorations at Big Lots and only spend $50. Probably less.

We found a whole bunch of really nice, classy candle holders like this hurricane (in the box). Honestly, if I was buying supplies to stock up, I would have snapped up a bunch of these. But, there probably wouldn’t have been enough of them. See, one of the problems with Big Lots is that what you see is what you get and there probably isn’t any more in the back.

And! If you decide to leave the stuff you like at Big Lots to shop around, don’t expect what you liked to still be there.

Oh, and don’t forget to buy something to put underneath your candle arrangement. That’s important.

So, to sum it up: Big Lots is cheap, and has a lot of variety. But the stores may not have enough of what you want, and if you don’t snap it up quick, it might be gone the next day.
