Wedding Week at WashingtonPost.com

Is the week after Valentine’s Day the perfect week to declare Wedding Week? I daresay, yes, it is!

Not surprisingly, they’re focusing pretty tightly on budgets, but weddings are so easy to do a whole bunch of stories on — just from this screenshot, there’s bridal gowns, flowers, wedding etiquette, and oh, yeah, marital bliss.

One of the features I kind of like the most is a slideshow of a florist putting together a centerpiece.

You can click through each photo and simply read the captions, but when you play it as a slideshow, you get audio from the florist, Linda Fuller. Heheh. She looks a little too clean to be actually putting together arrangements for a wedding, so I think this was a sort of staged flower arrangement.

This week, they are also doing chats, like one they did with the deputy editor of Real Simple Weddings about having cheap but chic weddings. There are some great ideas in the transcript of that chat on how to cut costs on flowers, a cake, and ideas on how to decorate guest tables with other stuff besides the flower centerpiece.

And, there is a nice story by a writer on how she tapped her network of friends to help her have the dream wedding she wanted without the nightmare budget. Definitely check these out!
