As I write this post, I’m watching the Lakers victory parade and celebration at the Coliseum in Los Angeles. My husband and I are big Lakers fans and it occurred to me that there must be other couples out there who really love the Lakers or other sports teams. Well, how about some classy ways to incorporate that team spirit into your wedding?

Heheh, I know, I know. You’re probably balking at my suggestion — “what?! This is MY day!”  Yes, yes, I know, but its your husband’s day too, and he’d probably be even more into it if you incorporate some of the things he loves, like a favorite sports team. Now, most Laker-themed parties are birthdays, but there are some very cute details I found online that you can add to your wedding.

Now, you probably don’t want a full-on Laker cake as your wedding cake. I understand! How about this one detail though?

Heheh! A Lakers cake topper! I think something like this one be adorable and really humorous. I’ve seen this version of cake topper around, but this one just has some Lakers details.I found this cake topper via eBay for $59.97.

Also via eBay, I found some super sexy garters in Laker colors.

The seller I borrowed this photo from is selling this garter for $18.95. I think, if you buy these garters as a surprise for your husband-to-be, he won’t want to toss them away. He might want you to keep them for the wedding night. 😉

Oh, but not all the cute Lakers gear was on eBay, but on Etsy too. Your guests won’t see these Lakers garters (and definitely, hopefully not the Lakers thong) unless they’re thrown in the garter toss, but dude. Your new husband will surely appreciate them. Heehee.

Last but not least, I think this would be a really lovely groom’s gift.

I found this sterling silver ring on Amazon. Think about it — is your husband a hardcore Laker fan? Just imagine the tears that would come to his eyes when he opens this as a groom’s gift. Not because he loves the Lakers so much…but because he’s realizing how much you love him to give him what he loves.

OK! I know there are a lot more ways to incorporate purple and gold, but you know what? These were some of the classier ways I found. If anyone ever has a Lakers-themed wedding, definitely send me pictures! I’d love to feature it here.
